Zinus Aidan Sling Chair at the Milan Design Week 2023
As part of the events taking place outside the main furniture fair ‘Salone del Mobile’ for the Design Milan Week 2023, Amazon created ‘The Amazing Playground’ exhibition at the Cortile della Farmacia, Milan University. The exhibition was an interactive space that had at its centre the ‘Swing’ installation by Stefano Boeri Interiors. Inspired by free time and the joy of playing outdoors, ‘Swing’ was designed to represent the easiness of buying online.
The Aidan Sling Chair
In two corners of the exhibition, Amazon showcased a selection of products. Our Zinus Aidan Sling Chair had a unique spot in the corner dedicated to the Italian project ‘Parco Italia’ about urban forestation. Visitors could enjoy sitting comfortably and relaxing while reading more about the initiative.
All the exhibition was designed with sustainability in mind. Form the ‘Swing’ ideation, the initiatives being supported, to the products displayed with the Amazon Climate Pledge Friendly label.
During the event we were able to catch up with Kyungil Chung, the Design Lead behind the Aidan Sling Chair. ‘This is an exciting opportunity and the Aidan sling chair is a really good example of Zinus design process’ said Kyungil

Salone del Mobile 2023
Apart of the numerous events happening around Milan, the centre of Milan Design Week was the Salone del Mobile, where the design trends emerge. A busy event with over 300,000 visitors from all over the world that sees the biggest furniture and design brands showcasing new products and displays that inspire the whole furniture industry. This year, there was lots of excitement as the fair went back to pre-Covid times with all the international community being present, however, it showed a continuation of similar trends from last year, after two years of concentrated innovation during the Pandemic.
Milan Design Week 2023 Trends
Here are some of the trends our design and product team captured from the event:
- Neutrals – beiges and terracotta – Similar to last year lots of neutrals and beiges colour palettes, however, the use of terracotta emerged. ‘We saw lots of terracotta being use in different materials. Brands were maximasing the use of this colour from walls, surfaces and fabric, which enhance the neutral palette’ says our Director of Product Strategy Tessa Glase
- Shades of green from olive to sage – ‘Green has always been a popular colour inside the home, but this year we saw a recurrent olive green tone that we expect to make its way as a preferred shade in the following year’ - Tessa Glase, Zinus Director of Product Strategy.
- Boucle fabric and less leather – This is one of the trends that clearly stayed from last year: boucle fabric and the use of textures. Although, the team pointed out the use of less leather compared to last year event.
- Refined silhouettes – Lots of the stands blurred the indoors and outdoors setting. Almost suggesting that the outdoors silhouettes with more refine and metal skinnier frames could also be part of the living room.
- Floating furniture – From beds to side tables to bed frames, we saw lots of takes on the floating furniture concept. These pieces add a sense of space an lightness that ultimately creates a flowing environment. We think this trend will develop in the use of hidden legs.
